Gone are the days when one has to pay for emailing services.  Free emails are here to stay with providers like Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo and the latest, Rocketmail. 

The great thing about www.gmail.com is that it gives more email space than even paid mailboxes and that you can readily access gmail on your mobile device.

When you start using gmail, you will first be struck and captivated by a unique and distinguishing feature, which is,  that at www.gmail.com, emails are arranged as conversations. That is to say, all responses to a particular mail are grouped together, much like a more elongated form of chatting.

And that’s the other thing – gmail enables you to chat online with others who are also gmail account holders.  So when you see that your friend is online, you can resort to instantaneous communication: just chat!

Conversations can even be archived under labels that you wish to assign to a particular group of emails, similar to filing mail into folders for those familiar with Outlook Express.  Important mail can be highlighted using the Star feature, as it enables you at one glance to locate your important emails and perhaps helps you in prioritizing your emailing tasks.

But if you are a less organized type of person or if you have thousands of emails which you have not had the time to clean up, www.gmail.com provides a very convenient search organ for locating emails. Find the email you want by typing keywords, be it the name of the sender or the subject, and voila!  The mails you want responding to that keyword will appear on your screen.

So, if you are one of those still using paid email services offered by Internet service providers, maybe it’s about time you consider an alternative email account, one that will remain with you for life, as with www.gmail.com you do not need to apprise your contacts of a change in email address whenever you switch Internet service providers.
