Continuing with the makeover post, it is interesting to note what happens when I'm older. It depends on what this question really means. In makeover games online, you can make yourself feel better by transforming yourself to look better. I have not seen one that supports aging yet and will be great if you can add to the discussion if you find one.
The fact is that if you ask this question "What will I look like when I'm older?" to different age groups, the results can be quite surprise. The age group between 18-64 (first group) will actually have a more pessimistic answer than those who are already older (65 and above - the second group). About 57 percent of people in the first group will think that they will suffer memory losses whereas only 25 percent in the second group thinks they will suffer memory losses when they get old. Similarly, if you ask the first group if they think they will be able to drive, have sex or suffer a serious illness, a larger percentage will think so compared to the second group So, when it comes to "What will I look like when I'm older?" question, a larger percentage in the first group would answer that I look much uglier than the second group. Regardless, of what the survey answer is, this is what happens when you grow old.
Skin aging
When you grow old, your skin loses the ability to synthesize the fatty acid to be able to keep our skin moist and young looking. When skin is exposed to ultraviolet light constantly, it causes photoaging and wrinkles. Your skin will lose its elasticity and become dry and like leather. This is probably the most exterior facing beauty for a person. When you look at someone who looks old, chances are because their skin is already dull and wrinked versus a youthful skin like a baby.
Bones
As you grow older, your bones becomes weakers due to a reduced bone mineral density. Bone mass becomes less. It is common for old people to get bone facture and if you get a hip fracture and becomes immobile, it can lead to many other health issues related to mobility.
White hair
Melanocytes is a pigment cell that determines the color of your hair and is located at the root of the hair. The hair is a protein that gets its color from melanin. However, when you grow old, the cell shuts down resulting in white hair being produced.
Eyes
When you are older, your eyes also starts to degenerates. Your pupil will be smaller and dilate less. A younger person receives much more light into their retina than a older person. Glaucoma and macular degeneration is also associated and more common when one gets older. Due to both internal and external changes to the eye, your eye will sometimes look dull and without energy. Like they say, the eye is the window to the soul and when your eyes are not as bright as they used to be, it will affect your overall look.
These are only someof the exterior changes you will observe as you grow older. The fact is you are'nt going to look as good as your younger self. So, face it and live life.
