What is a makeover? The dictionary defines it as a process where you are treated with beauty and cosmetic treatment. For example, during a wedding, you have a complete makeover where people hardly recognizes you since you are adorn in a wedding dress and have makeup and hair redo.

There are literally hundreds of makeover games online. Essentially, these games present an avatar that looks very much like you. Then, you get to choose different clothings, make up, hairstyles and apparels for the avatar to wear. Some sites then allow others to interact and comment as well as improve on your makeover.

Most of these makeover games online are flash based as they offer the best user experience. Many also allows you to upload your own photo to give the most realistic experience. Good makeover games online should allow you to customize essentially everything you could do to yourself such as hair color, eyeshadow, eyeliner, sunglasses, etc.

Makeover games online are essentially targetting the girls market and the audience who grows up dressing up their barbie dolls. While playing the game, a profitable business model around this is in the selling of virtual goods where special items are sold.

What makes a good makeover game? A good makeover game should

1. Allow you to customize almost everything. Whether it is putting on a sunglasses, dyeing your hair, chanig your contacts, changing a headwear, a good makeover game should allow you to do it.

2. Allow you to upload a photo or choose an avatar. Uploading your photo allows you to really have a more personal experience.

3. Compare to celebrities. Don't we all want to look like them or have their fashion sense? A good makeover game should allow you to look at similar photos of well known people.

4. Before and after shots are important to give you an idea of the improvement you made to yourself or the picture

5. Saving and printing your makeover candidate is essential as it is frustrating to have to redo it everytime you log in again.

6. Social feature that allows your friends to improve, collaborate and comment on the makeover makes it more entertaining and social.
