Tips on shopping during Black Friday
1) Before you go to a store, obviously you should get the ads first and know what you want. Sometimes, you can go to the store to pick it up. Most can also be found as inserts in newspaper. You can always call the customer service of the retailer to ask them to mail you one if it is available and you have not got it yet.
2) Check out store opening hours on Black Friday. They are usually open at 5am, but ask your local store as they can be different from store to store.
3) If you want the hottest item, be sure to set your alarm clock as early as you can to wake up early on Black Friday. It sure will still be dark and maybe that is why it is a black Friday for shoppers. Hell, go camp overnight at the store if you really want something. Unfortunately, other people are thinking the same thing and no matter how early you are, someone is going to be ahead of you.
4) Eat your breakfast while in line. Get your morning coffee and sandwich or breakfast and bring it along. Pack it the night before if you have to since most breakfast joints are not open that early. Don't bother to eat at home, just eat it while you are waiting in line and make sure you finish eating before the store opens.
5) Make sure you car is filled with gas. You do not want to be getting gas when you are trying to be ahead of what is going to be a long line.
6) Don't get stampeded! Yes, this is silly but true. There had been real incidents when there was a stampede in stores that don't have proper crowd control. In others word, shop wild but stay safe. Don't be harmed by door busters.
7) Know the store layout beforehand so you do not get lost while wandering. Because of special item products, the layout of merchandise can change a little. So, be prepared, but like any successful expedition, it is always good to have some scouting ahead.
8) Have a game plan. Yes! Everyone will be rushing for what they want. You want to have a game plan before hand. Know the top items you want to buy and head straight for them as they can be gone very quickly.
9) Bring friends and family to help. Having more people will help since your friends can split up and get the products.
10) Don't despair if you cannot get what you want. The hottest items are usually limited and can be gone within minutes. There is always Cyber-Monday where you can find deals online.
11) Have plan B. You do not always get what you want, so do have a secondary item in mind. For the hottest item, it is always a little toolate to visit another retailer or store. For other produts, there may still be a chance if you drive to the nearest neighboring store. Regardless,if you don't get your top choice, you might want to make sure you have a plan for a second choice.
12) Shop online. There is definitely some fun and excitement to join the crowd shopping during Black Friday. Retailers are also increasingly becoming savvy and do put up offers online as well. So, do check online.
13) Most important of all, stay safe and have fun shopping on Black Friday.
