Many years ago, when I was playing games on the Apple such as the Ultima, it got to a point where it was just easier to cheat and get HIT points, gold and experience points by cheating. There used to be great programs that allows you to cheat by scanning the memory and looking for specific keywords within the memory. Then you compare the current value of your hit points with the one in the memory location. By guessing which memory address contains your hit point, you can then proceed to change the memory location and set the maximum amount possible.
Fast forward many years later, gamers are still doing it- cheating their way through games. One of the most used open source tool out there is Cheat Engine which is a software that allows the user to modify games with a memory scanner that quickly scan for variables used in the game. There are also online games that you can use Cheat Engine for. The problem though is that it works less well since online games do tend to sync up with the servers who really is the authority on the state of the game and so any changes you make on the client side will be reset eventually by the server.
1. Take your Tylenol medicine and look for the box. If you have thrown that away, then try matching the descript....ion of the product. Otherwise, the box should have a UPC code that looks like a string of numbers with a barcode above.
2. In the picture below, the UPC code is: 300450167019
3. Go to the recall letter and turn to the last few pages where the list of Tylenol products that are recalled can be found.
4. If you find the UPC code that matches what you have on the box, proceed to check the lot # which can usually be found on the bottle itself.
5. In the picture below, the lot # is SMM068
7. Discard the bottle if both the lot # and UPC code matches the ones on the list. If they do, then the product is part of the Children's Tylenol recall. Hope this helps.
Go check your medicine cabinet for old children's tylenol as some batches are being recalled due to a suspected contamination of the product by some bacteria.
I was going through the news when I noted a Children's Tylenol Recall. Given that news break out quickly these days and sometimes false information could spread too quickly, I proceeded to read the news with a little skepticism. The last time someone told that that Mars was going to be as large as the moon in the night sky on Aug, it turned out to be some popular email hoax. Not too long ago, United Airline stock dropped to less than $1 because of some old news saying that it was going bankrupt. In any case, I did a little bit of research this time to make sure that it was'nt a false alarm.
Basically, there is a batch of Tylenol where the inactive ingredient did not pass internal testing. There was a gram-negative Burkholderia cepacia (B. cepacia) bacteria that was detected in the raw material used. So, that is Sanskrit to me. What is "gram-negative"? What is this Burkholderia cepacia bateria?
According to Wikipedia:
"Gram-negative bacteria are those bacteria that do not retain crystal violet dye in the Gram staining protocol.1 In a Gram stain test, a counterstain (commonly safranin) is added after the crystal violet, coloring all Gram-negative bacteria with a red or pink color. The test itself is useful in classifying two distinct types of bacteria based on the structural differences of their cell walls. On the other hand, Gram-positive bacteria will retain the crystal violet dye when washed in a decolorizing solution."
So, big deal? Well, the characteristic of a Gram negative bacteria is:
"One of the several unique characteristics of Gram-negative bacteria is the structure of the outer membrane. The outer leaflet of the membrane comprises a complex lipopolysaccharide whose lipid portion acts as an endotoxin. If endotoxin enters the circulatory system it causes a toxic reaction with the sufferer having a high temperature and respiration rate and a low blood pressure. This may lead to endotoxic shock, which may be fatal."
Okay, now this starts to sound serious. So who cares about which bacteria it is? However, being curious, I research a little more. It does seem like this strain of bacteria is a human pathogen that can cause pneumonia in humans and thrive in water and moist environment.
So, I decided to make sure that this news is not another hoax. The best way to find the information is in Tylenol's website itself. This is where I think they did not do a very good job of informing consumers about the problem. You would assume that such big news would be either on the home page so that information is clearly visible to consumers or at least in the news section, but no! It is buried in where you cannot find it. This is where you find that information:
1. Go to Tylenol.com which is their official site.
2. On the bottom right, there is a link "For Healthcare Professionals" which is mostly neither you nor me and so we won't be click on it.
The Japanese fusion food at Red Crane was better than I expected and would give it a 8 out of 10. First of all, fusion normally suggests pricey and small portions. In this case, the price was somewhat reasonable though slightly on the higher side of your average Japanese good. The portions however were generous and we were pretty much filled after the dining. Food presentation was also simple elegant and not too complex. The taste of the food was better than I had expected as none of us have tried the restaurant before and therefore did not expect much from it. The restaurant itself is in some older building though the owners have lofty ambitions to locate to Palo Alto or Santana Row once they proved themselves in the location. The venue itself isnt that big and the crowd was just right.
A group of us ordered the chicken salad which really had a great combination of taste. The special rolls were also unique and taste good. We also had the char siew marinated cod. The fish itself was on the salty side but had great texture and was just cooked right.The Asian crispy chicken was also cooked just right without being too tough and had great taste.
The service was all right. The waiter/waitress were all very pleasant, courteous and were trying their best to serve. However, the dessert did take a long time and the owners compensate for it by giving us extra dessert for free. The overall speed of serving was a little slow though I think the bottleneck is due to the kitchen. However, if you are not in a hurry, it really is no big deal. As for the price, it came to about $33 person which I thought was reasonable considering we had appetizers, main course and desserts.
In & Out Burger is one of the better burger. The beef patty are supposedly never frozen. The lettuce and tomatoes are chopped fresh. You get fresh onions for detoxification and the buns contain no preservatives. The fried potatoes are made from fresh potatos chopped on the spot. Big fan of this burger joint that focuses on a great FRESH BURGER EXPERIENCE.

I learned a great deal about pianos today. One surprising fact was that a piano can actually be an investment just like art in a way. I was quite surprised that a Steinway piano actually appreciates in value over the years. So when you buy a Steinway & Sons piano, you could actually make a positive return on investment. It does not come cheap though and cost at least $20K and upwards to more than $100K. The retail value of a Steinway Grand Piano has increased by 200% according to Forbes in the last 10 years.
These are the few reasons from what I can gather:
1) The best pianist chooses Steinway when they perform. It is the piano of choice by 90% of the world's performing pianist. So, there is a brand premium by a discerning audience. 2) A Steinway is made by hand and takes about 1 year to finish. Each year, it makes about 2500 pianos as opposed to 80,000 Yamahas every year. Over its 150 years of operation, only about half a million Steinways were made.
The law of demand and supply dictates that the price of a Steinway will keep going up. In fact, if you go to their sales room, you may convince someone to show you a chart projecting the future value of a Steinway.

Most piano manufacturers are now outsourcing or mass producing their instruments. However, Steinway remains a labor of love as they rerfuse to compromise their quality. Each Steinway piano contains twelve thousand parts that are made by hand with 450 employees taking a year to make it in a year long process.
Can anyone tell me the difference between a Steinway, Yamaha, Gebt, Boston other piano brands? Is the price of a Steinway worth the investment? It easily cost a $20,000 premium to other brands.
Max Opera Cafe is a unique restaurant that can be found in Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto. It has been many years for me and I did not have much impression of the food there though I normally go there because the waiters/waitresses usually take turns to sing opera live as they take their little break from serving food which is quite unique. The Phily Cheesesteak they served was hot and the bread was not too tough. The fish served in the fish and chips taste quite fresh.
Although, I visited the place recently because I wanted to listen to some live piano and opera,I actually thought the food they served was pretty good. The portions are large and filling. For a place that serves live opera as well as food, I thought the acoustics of the place was not as well designed as you can feel the sound of diners bouncing around and the whole place does feel noisy. You can listen to some of the music here which I recorded with my iPhone as they were singing.
This morning I fired up my www.yahoomail.com client and noticed something interesting...They have the "What are you doing?" text box in Yahoo Mail home page. Maybe it was there before, but I have not notice till now. It looks like Yahoo may be experimenting to enter the life streaming space or the statussphere. With the large number of users on Yahoo Mail platform to leverage on, it only make sense to run this experiment as it would be interesting to see if they can generate something meaningful in this space. Look to Hotmail and Gmail to follow suit though I think Gmail is taking a more interesting angle with its Google Wave product.
I was told that on Aug 27 that Mars would be as big as a full moon on August as it would be the closest to Earth and that it would not happen again in our lifetime or at least another 6000 years or 50,000 years depending on which version you believe in.
Doing a little bit more research, it seems like this was one of the popular email hoax that happens around every Aug and was a resuse of a similar email hoax circulated in Aug 2003. On Aug 2003, when Mars was at one of its closest approach to Earth, it was still about 34.65 million miles from Earth and although is substantially brighter, it is only still a reddish point of light and never came close to being as large as a full moon. Well,maybe someday when space tourism becomes mass market, we can all see the planets a little closer...
The Merchandise Mart in Chicago has 4.2 million square feet. It was built to be environment friendly and has reduce pollution by mire than 250,000 pounds since constructed. Massive but green.
There are some great panoramic views in the US that are breathtaking and its enormity can only be experienced in person as no photographs or cameras can really do great justice to what nature can offer. In my opinion, some of these great views can be experienced at:

Grand Canyon
Now, I have to add a fourth one to these which is Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. Its scenery is less diverse, but it conveys the magnificence of the mountains with Mount Olympus being the highest peak within the system and one can easily lose oneself admiring the vista offered by these magnificent mountains!
